Jason Koon secured a €1,000,000 prize in a winner-take-all Sit & Go at EPT Monte Carlo. Meanwhile, the Main Event surpassed its bubble, leaving 151 players to chase an €825,000 top prize, with Brazil’s Rodrigo Selouan leading the remaining field.

The European Poker Tour (EPT) Monte Carlo stop recently played host to an unconventional high-stakes battle. On Wednesday, nine of the most elite players in the industry assembled for a €100,000 buy-in Sit & Go.

While organizers initially intended to broadcast a high-stakes cash game, the participants requested a format change to a winner-take-all tournament. PokerStars accommodated the request and added €100,000 to the prize pool, creating a flat €1,000,000 top prize.

The lineup featured a specialized group of high-roller talent including Jason Koon, Stephen Chidwick, Mikita Badziakouski, Ben Tollerene, Kayhan Mokri, Daniel Dvoress, Aleksejs Ponakovs, Patrik Antonius, and Artur Martirosian.

According to data compiled by Garry Gates, these nine competitors represent a combined $429,609,824 in career earnings.

Because the event utilized a winner-take-all structure, standard Independent Chip Model (ICM) considerations were non-existent. This dynamic allowed the players to compete with a high degree of aggression. Ultimately, Jason Koon navigated the formidable field to secure the entire €1,000,000 payout.

Parallel to the high-stakes Sit & Go, the EPT Monte Carlo €5,300 Main Event progressed through its
second day of play. The tournament drew 1,011 entries, resulting in a total prize pool of €4,903,350. The session concluded with the bursting of the money bubble.

Morgan Aceto was the final player eliminated outside of the payouts. Aceto was forced all-in from the small blind for his last 1,000 chip. His J-6 was unable to improve against the K-K held by Fabian Berraboukha. The remaining 151 players are now guaranteed at least €9,200, with the eventual winner set to receive €825,000.

Rodrigo Selouan of Brazil ended the day as the overall chip leader with a stack of 933,000. He is closely followed by Team PokerStars Pro Raul Mestre, who bagged 868,000.

The remaining field still contains significant experience, including former EPT champions Thomas Eychenne, Ognyan Dimov, and Hossein Ensan. Competition will resume on Day 3 as the field narrows toward the final table.
