The 888poker LIVE Glasgow Main Event concluded over the weekend with an Austrian amateur turning a "miracle" river card into a career-defining victory. Martin Lechner, a 37-year-old hobbyist making his debut on the 888poker circuit, navigated a field of 348 entries at the Grosvenor Casino Merchant City to claim the title.

Following a heads-up deal with British regular Richard Kellett, Lechner walked away with £57,515 and the trophy, capping off a festival that comfortably cleared its £264,480 prize pool guarantee.

The "One-Outer" and the Final Table

Lechner’s path to the winner's circle was nearly derailed during four-handed play in a confrontation with runner-up Richard Kellett. After getting his chips in with King-Ten against Kellett’s Ace-King on a King-high flop, Lechner found himself hunting for a single card; the other two tens in the deck had already been folded by opponents. The "miracle" ten arrived on the river, keeping the Austrian alive and shifting the momentum of the final table.

The final nine featured a sturdy mix of international travelers and local stalwarts. Notably, Dean Hutchison and Gaoyang Yang both reached the Main Event final table after winning preliminary trophies earlier in the week.
