Kiat Lee won $40,000 Mystery Bounty event at Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Jeju II after surviving bubble. Lee earned $619,000 and eight bounties, while Jamil Wakil finished second for $419,000 and six bounties, with each worth $40,000 minimum.

Kiat Lee completed a remarkable turnaround at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Jeju, Malaysia, winning the $40,000 Mystery Bounty event after being on the brink of elimination during the tournament bubble earlier in the day.

Lee defeated Canada's Jamil Wakil in the final pot of the tournament to claim his fourth Triton title. Wakil finished runner-up, missing out on his first Triton trophy.

Around 2pm on the tournament floor, Lee faced potential elimination on the bubble of the $40,000 Mystery Bounty event. He needed his hand to hold against Wakil to double a tiny stack and continue his tournament run.

Approximately nine hours later, the two players were involved in another huge pot, again with Lee hoping for a favourable flop against Wakil.

This time, the pot was the tournament's final one. Lee won the hand and secured the title, completing his journey from the brink of the bubble to champion.

The victory marked Lee's fourth Triton title and continued his strong record on the tournament series he treats as his home.

Lee has so far earned $619,000 from the event. His tournament haul also includes eight bounty envelopes, which he will open during a ceremony tomorrow.

Each envelope is worth a minimum of $40,000, putting the value of his eight bounties at at least $320,000. Combined with his $619,000 tournament prize, that means Lee's total payday from the event is highly likely to reach seven figures.

Wakil collected $419,000 for finishing second and also secured six bounty envelopes. Those bounties provide an additional potential payout, although his first Triton trophy remains elusive.

The Mystery Bounty event attracted a 133-entry field. Day 1 focused on reaching the 25 percent of the field that would receive a bounty token. A total of 33 players bagged and tagged shortly before 1am and returned for Day 2, where every elimination was rewarded with a bounty pull.

The tournament still had its official money bubble to navigate, with the bubble set to burst when 23 players remained.

That stage became a prolonged and nervy affair. Numerous players came under threat during the bubble, although most managed to survive.

The event was listed as Event #7, a $40,000 No-Limit Hold'em Mystery Bounty tournament played seven-handed. The prize pool reached $5,320,000.

Kiat Lee's victory came after one of the most dramatic reversals of his tournament, beginning with a tiny stack and a critical bubble confrontation against Jamil Wakil before ultimately defeating the same opponent in the final pot.

Lee leaves the event with $619,000 secured, eight bounty envelopes still to open and his fourth Triton title. Wakil takes $419,000 for second place alongside six bounty envelopes.
