PokerStars UK Details Betfair Migration Ahead of Standalone Platform Closure

PokerStars has published detailed guidance for UK customers ahead of its move to Betfair, setting out what will happen to balances, tournament entries, tickets, usernames and safer gambling settings when the existing PokerStars UK platform closes for gameplay.

The change forms part of Flutter Entertainment’s wider PokerStars Network strategy. Betfair became the first UK Flutter brand to offer PokerStars on 13 August 2026, while Paddy Power and Sky Poker are also due to host the product later this year.

UK players will remain connected to the existing global PokerStars player pool, including WCOOP, SCOOP and the Sunday Million.

PokerStars says the migration will take place “in the coming weeks”. As of 18 September, no exact date has been published.

What happens to your PokerStars UK account?

The process depends on whether a player already has an active Betfair account.

Players without an active Betfair account will need to download the Betfair client after the scheduled downtime. PokerStars says the existing account will then be transferred, with players signing in using their PokerStars credentials and accepting Betfair’s terms before funds become available.

If a PokerStars username is already in use on Betfair, the player may need to log in using the email address registered to the PokerStars account instead. The poker nickname will not be affected.

Players who already have an active Betfair account will not go through the same transfer. They are being told to withdraw their PokerStars balance and continue through their existing Betfair account.

Tournament tickets, T-Money and registrations

For transferred accounts, registrations for tournaments taking place after the downtime will move to Betfair alongside the player's cash balance, Tournament Money and unused tournament tickets.

Players with an active Betfair account will instead be automatically unregistered from affected future tournaments. Buy-ins will be refunded, while T-Money and unused tournament tickets will be converted into cash so the remaining PokerStars balance can be withdrawn.

PokerStars says previously won live-event seats and packages remain valid, with affected players receiving separate instructions where necessary.

GBP wallets, payments and security

Betfair accounts operate in pounds sterling, so balances held in other currencies will be converted into a single GBP wallet. Currency conversion will also take place when players buy into or cash out from tables denominated in another currency, which may create small differences through exchange rates and rounding.

Some payment methods currently available through PokerStars may not be supported on Betfair, while the player-to-player Transfer to Player feature will disappear for UK customers.

PokerStars PINs, RSA Security Tokens and security questions will not transfer automatically. Some customers may also be asked to complete additional verification after migration.

Safer gambling settings need checking

PokerStars says active self-exclusion and time-out periods will remain in force. Other safer gambling preferences will not all transfer unchanged.

The most restrictive existing PokerStars deposit limit will be carried over, but players may need to configure other settings again after logging into Betfair.

For anyone using PokerStars UK, the core poker offering is not disappearing. The global player pool, established tournament series and PokerStars games remain, but Betfair becomes the new UK access point.

The move also follows wider changes across Flutter’s British operations, including the recent Paddy Power shop review.
