GGPoker has launched Escrow Trade, a free peer-to-peer asset trading feature integrated into its cashier. The system secures transactions for cash, tournament dollars, and tickets, protecting players from the financial risks associated with informal, unverified online poker trading community channels.

Trading poker assets between players has long been an established practice within the poker community. Transactions frequently occur when players win tournament seats they cannot attend or hold tickets they are unable to utilize.

While the demand for peer-to-peer trading has persisted for years, the industry has historically lacked a secure, centralized infrastructure to support these transactions.

To facilitate asset exchanges, poker players have traditionally relied on informal channels such as public forums, Discord servers, and various social media platforms. Although the poker community operates largely on mutual trust, informal peer-to-peer trading presents substantial financial risks.

Outside of official platforms, players have no protection if a counterparty fails to fulfill their end of a deal, no official avenues for recourse when trades go wrong, and no mechanism to verify the identity of the trading partner.

Consequently, players have experienced losses involving real funds, chips, and tournament entries, often accepting these occurrences as an unavoidable hazard of executing transactions outside official platform channels.

To address these security concerns, GGPoker has developed a fully integrated peer-to-peer trading feature called Escrow Trade, built directly into the GGPoker Cashier interface.

The system allows players to buy and sell multiple forms of poker assets, including cash, C$, T$, and tournament tickets.

The feature utilizes a dedicated escrow framework that securely holds the designated assets until both participating parties confirm that the transaction is complete, ensuring that neither party can abandon the agreement mid-transaction.

The transaction process follows a specific sequence within the platform:
  • Listing: A seller lists their available asset within the Escrow Trade marketplace.
  • Review and Chat: A prospective buyer reviews the listed terms and enters a dedicated Trade Chat to confirm transaction details.
  • Locking Assets: The specific poker asset is locked automatically by the system as soon as the escrow transaction begins.
  • Payment and Confirmation: The buyer transmits the payment and marks it as sent within the system. The seller must then confirm the receipt of the payment before the escrowed asset is officially released.
  • Dispute Resolution: In the event that a dispute arises during the transaction, both participating parties have the ability to submit evidence to the platform for formal review and resolution.

The implementation of Escrow Trade does not introduce a new activity to the poker landscape, as peer-to-peer trading already occurred on a daily basis.

Instead, the feature transitions these existing interactions into a structured and protected environment. GGPoker provides this solution completely free of charges, fees, or hidden catches.

The Escrow Trade feature is available to users in specific jurisdictions that support peer-to-peer cash transfers. Players can determine access by checking the Cashier section within their localized GGPoker client.
