Horatiu Cont won the £560 888poker UKPL Luton Main Event for £56,700 after defeating a 556-entry field. Earlier in the series, Wayne Peach secured the £250 Opening Voyage title as the Luton stop delivered strong fields and prize pools.
The 2026 888poker UK Poker League stop in Luton produced strong turnouts and notable finishes across its schedule, with Horatiu Cont capturing the £560 Main Event title after navigating a large and competitive field.
The Main Event attracted 556 entries and generated a prize pool of £264,090. Cont delivered the winning performance, earning £56,700 after defeating Yucel Eminoglu heads-up.
The runner-up collected £38,060, while Simon Wilson secured third place for £25,690. Christopher Day and George Popa were also among the players who reached the final stages of the tournament.
Cont’s victory prevented Eminoglu from completing a remarkable double at the festival, as the latter had already made a deep run earlier in the series.
The Main Event result marked the biggest prize of the Luton stop and highlighted the continued growth of the UK Poker League tour.
Earlier in the festival, Wayne Peach captured the first trophy of the series by winning the £250 Opening Voyage event.
The tournament drew 318 entries and created a £66,460 prize pool. Peach secured the title and a £15,650 payout after outlasting the field.
Michael O'Brien finished in second place for £10,450, while Mo Joian rounded out the top three with £6,930. A total of 38 players finished in the money in the Opening Voyage tournament.
With large participation numbers and competitive prize pools across the schedule, the Luton stop once again demonstrated the popularity of the 888poker UK Poker League on the UK live poker circuit.
