Cedric Schwaederle
French grinder Cedric Schwaederle just added another massive trophy to his mantle, taking down the £1,250 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) London Main Event. Navigating a bustling field of 432 entries, Schwaederle secured the lion’s share of the £450,180 prize pool, walking away with £102,880 and the sixth six-figure score of his live poker career.

A Sizzling 12 Months on the Felt

This victory in London is just the latest milestone in an incredible year-long tear for the Frenchman. Last July, he locked up a career-best $310,000 after winning the $5,300 High Roller at the Dolce Vita Series in Cyprus. He followed that up in October 2025 by shipping the €2,200 EPT Malta Deep Stack for €99,400.

Even his "smaller" runs have been fruitful, including a recent 10th-place finish at the $2,200 EAPT Cyprus Main Event in March for $13,400.Unsurprisingly, his peers took to social media to celebrate his latest triumph. British grinders even dropped a few tongue-in-cheek jokes about Schwaederle "getting the badge in," referencing the popular UK meme surrounding the Stone Island clothing brand.

Deep Run Casualties

With 56 players making the money, the payout desk saw plenty of recognizable faces. The likes of Dale Wilson, Matthew Davenport, Joe Hindry, and Conor O'Driscoll all secured a return on their investment. Notable crushers Timothy Chung, Arthur Conan, and Trevor Reardon also found the cash.

Grosvenor Ambassador Katie Swift nearly made an incredible comeback story. After nursing a short stack on Day 2, she spun it up to make a deep run but ultimately fell agonizingly short of the final table, busting in 10th place for £6,030.

Final Table Action and the Heads-Up Cooler

The final table was not short on drama. Ken Wong suffered a brutal exit in ninth when his ace-queen found an ace on the flop against Jiaze Li's pocket kings, only for the one remaining case king to drop on the turn.

Li continued his rampage by taking out a short-stacked Antoine Labat in eighth, flopping a set of nines against Labat's king-five.Tsz To hit the rail in seventh when his straight draw ran dead into Schwaederle's nut straight, followed closely by the anonymous player "C.K." in sixth.

Li's momentum eventually ran out in fifth when his king-ten couldn't catch up to Longmao Fan's ace-king. Ignacio Amelung banked a career-best £29,220 in fourth place, falling to Tobias Kirby-Hogarty in a nasty cooler where his top pair ran into bottom set.

The tournament moved to heads-up after Fan (who finished second in this event three years ago) shoved a double-paired board with just queen-high, only for Kirby-Hogarty to snap him off with a full house.

Entering the heads-up duel with a massive chip lead, Kirby-Hogarty put up a tough fight. However, the turning point arrived during the 40,000/80,000 level. Kirby-Hogarty trapped from the small blind with pocket nines and shoved over Schwaederle’s raise. Schwaederle instantly called with pocket kings, and the premium pair held to completely flip the chip counts.

Shortly after, Schwaederle called a 16-big-blind jam with pocket eights against Kirby-Hogarty's ace-jack. The board bricked out, crowning Schwaederle the champion
